Local Farms

New Milford farms provide locally grown produce, educational opportunities, and a glimpse into the Town’s past. Visitors can gain a deeper appreciation for the Town’s agricultural roots by exploring one of the many local farms and experiencing firsthand the hard work and dedication that goes into producing food for the community. Sullivan Farm, established in 1841, lies along the Route 202 corridor.  Purchased by the Town almost 30 years ago, the 100+-acre property is managed by a nonprofit organization that runs a local farm stand, youth educational programs, and the Great Brook Sugar House. Visitors can tour the farm, which grows crops, including corn, tomatoes, pumpkins and squash, and learn about sustainable farming practices and maple sugaring. Sullivan Farm strives to provide a place to expand youth awareness of their relationship with the environment and agriculture.

The New Milford Barn Quilt Trail honors the Town’s rich agricultural history and the resurgence of family farms in New Milford. Follow the map to view 19 antique and vintage barns and historical buildings around New Milford adorned with colorful quilt patterns hand-painted on large weather-resistant blocks. It is the first barn quilt trail established in Connecticut.
